3 Top Tips For Winning Online Videos!

After over 1 1/2 months of struggling to sort out a simple banking issue through conventional methods with no luck, I decided to shoot this short video for my bank to get their attention and make my voice heard so that I could solve a problem!

Why did I choose video??

Here are some interesting stats about online videos:

  • 75% of executives watch work-related videos on business websites at least once a week.

  • YouTube users watch more than 3 billion hours of video per month, according to YouTube.

  • YouTube reports mobile video consumption rises 100% every year.

  • 72 Hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, according to YouTube.

How important is it for us to use video when presenting our business, a message or showcasing services and products – CRUCIAL!!

Whether it’s a plea for better customer service, or we’re presenting our business or important message on camera to thousands of viewers, we need to consider what we can do to stand out from the crowd and ensure our message is heard.

Here are 3 Top Tips you can use when working on camera to present yourself and your message in the best way possible.

Top Tip # 3: SMILE!

In recent research scientists concluded that "smiling can be as stimulating as receiving up to 16,000 Pounds Sterling in cash.”

Even if it’s a plea for better customer service!! Smiling exudes warmth and draws your viewers in so that they want to listen to what you have to say.

News Anchors in studio or journalists reporting generally stand facing the camera head-on to create a sense of authority and trustworthiness in regards to the facts they’re relaying.

However, when we’re telling a story, sharing about who we are or the services we offer, standing at a slight angle (not profile), invites the viewer in because it feels less confrontational.

We want to connect with our viewers not just report on facts.

Top Tip #1: KEEP IT SHORT!

According to research, viewers will watch from between 1 – 2 minutes of video.

If it’s longer, they tend to leave – unless it’s really really REALLY entertaining or informative!!

Consider for a moment how much time you’re willing to invest into watching online videos? Not much I’m guessing.

So I suggest, keep it short, sharp & entertaining!

Whether it’s a peaceful protest, a piece of educational content, ‘ad’ or other marketing materials, remember these top tips and most of all – have fun with it!
